Is there some way to read regular sheet music for playing a guitar?

I'm trying to learn guitar and all i can find are the guitar tabs. Can't you play from sheet music. But then where is the ';C'; note because there's no string on guitar that is labeled ';c';. do you have to play a mixture of notes to get ';c';? If there is such thing as guitar sheet music, please post a link to some. Also if you have some suggestions for what are good songs to learn for beginners. that would be good.

thanx! Is there some way to read regular sheet music for playing a guitar?
As mentioned, each fretted note on a guitar is a note. For instance, the ';A'; string open plays an ';A';, but each fret raises the note by half-a-step. Thus, if you start at an ';A'; and go up three frets, you'd be playing a ';C';.

Most rock and popular music guitar players play from tab (if they're not playing by ear); you generally see classical players playing from standard notation. Many guitar tablature renditions show both the guitar tab and the standard notation.

If you're a beginner, you might do best by learning some chords first. If you don't know where to start, begin by learning these chords: G, C, and D. Once you've done that, you've learned about 75% of all popular songs (these chords are also very friendly to voice -- they're a comfortable key to sing in).

If you check the reference listed, you'll find a piece on the 10 recommended chords for beginner guitarists. Is there some way to read regular sheet music for playing a guitar?
Yes. There is actually, every fret is a different note on the guitar fret-board.

Here is a diagram that shows you note by note by the string.

Hope this is helpful.

Any decent music shop has guitar sheet music but it's not easy. See if you can get a copy of Bert Weedon's ';Play in a Day';.
if you take the time to learn tabs it's actually reeeeally easy.
